Recently, The Pampered Chef has released online ordering through Independent Kitchen Consultants' personal websites. This new development has raised some important issues within the company and the public.
For 25 years The Pampered Chef has sold their high quality kitchen tools through Kitchen shows in clients' homes, based on a Host program format. The Host invites all the guests and the Consultant prepares a tasty recipe while demonstrating the kitchen tools. The guests are then able to order those tools through the catalog and the Host then receives those orders to distribute. In exchange for the hospitality of opening his/her home, the Host is generously rewarded with free and discounted tools. The Kitchen Consultant earns a commission on what is sold at the Host's Kitchen Show.
Kitchen Consultants have the ability to obtain personal websites through The Pampered Chef to further enhance their business. Hosts can utilize the website to send e-vites, keep track of guests RSVPs, view recipes, and more. Until recently, the websites only allowed guests to place an order in association with a host's at-home kitchen show or catalog show. Individual ordering has now be released which enables a customer to place their order directly from a personal website for shipment right to their door. This has opened up the market to those who are more comfortable with online ordering and less likely to attend a home presentation.
Without having contact with a Kitchen Consultant, the customer's ability to locate these personal websites, comes from doing a search on engines such as Google, AOL, and MSN. Only the top level Directors in The Pampered Chef are given the right to list their websites in these search engines and pay for sponsorship for higher listings with more frequency. This priviledge equates to more sales from a much wider market than a Consultant could reach through the presentation of Kitchen shows alone.
Changing times have catapulted The Pampered Chef into the cyber arena. Now, a new playing field has been established which encourages Consultants to keep up with their technological peers, or risk falling behind.
The Consumer can now choose The Pampered Chef experience they prefer. Whether it be a home presentation with a personal Kitchen Consultant or an online relationship with web orders and emails, the consumer now decides.
